ABSTRACT: Understanding and supporting the mental health of medical staff is very important to public health. The method of Emotional Regulation with Music (ERM) was created by Lisa Summer in 2019 based on the method of Guided Imagery and Music. The aim of this research is to explore the potential of ERM for emotional self-care in medical staff. Medical staff in different provinces of China were recruited online from June 2020 to June 2022. The method of ERM was used as an intervention for medical staff. All therapists received training in the method of ERM. A visual analogue scale was used to evaluate the participants' emotional states caused by stress. The results showed that the score of the VAS scale (7.42 ± 1.82) was significantly higher after the ERM intervention (t = -5.33, p = 0.000) compared to the scores at baseline (5.52 ± 2.13). ERM intervention may improve emotional self-care in medical staff.
