Life is a cycle of new beginnings, coming into fullness, breaking apart and resting before starting the new again. Sometimes we get stuck along the way. Brenda Burgner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Fellow by the Association for Music and Imagery living and working in Richmond, Virginia. She began her social work career 30 years ago with traumatized children in a therapeutic day school. This began a career direction that became a calling. Maya Angelou wrote, "I can be changed by what has happened to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." Brenda has developed an approach of helping clients process their inner world cognitively, emotionally, physiologically, energetically and spiritually so they can be changed but not become reduced by life's events. From the beginning of working together to the end, Brenda uses a number of experiential modalities. She is trained in, and a trainer of, a psychological assessment, Circles of the Self. She is trained in, and a trainer of, The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music which is a powerful depth approach to working with one's inner world. She is trained in, and becoming a trainer of, mindfulness meditation. Additionally Brenda has training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Energy Psychology, dream work, mandala drawings and poetry. With the use of these experiential modalities Brenda is better able meet folks on their journey to wholeness and help them tap into their own innate ability for healing.
